Actor Majel Barrett Roddenberry died in her Bel-Air, CA home today surrounded by friends and family, according to Sci Fi Wire. She was 76.

Widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and the only actor to appear in every incarnation of the Star Trek franchise, Barrett is perhaps best remembered as the voice of the ship's computer, a role she reprises in the upcoming Star Trek remake by J.J. Abrams. She also played Nurse Chapel, Dr. McCoy's right-hand woman, and Lwaxana Troi, mother of Next Generation's Deanna Troi.
